Results of the Trial Of The Lanark EMS Head Emobilization Method
Lanark County EMS uses a method of head tie down that inVolves 2 10" peies of pool noodle wrapped in towel, and taped in place instead of Fernos. The big advantage with this system is the cost of the equipment - $10.00 versus $250.00 for a set of Fernos. The other advantage is not having to collect them from the hospital each time.

This is how EMS demonstrated the procedure. It worked well.

This is the result in the snow. It Did not work.
|
The main issues encountered were:
- Tape does not like the cold. our roll was useless, and it was only -5 out
- White tape also gets lost in the snow.
- Cravats, tightend until it hurts will not properly secure the head.
- Cravats also require the Cervical Collar to be aligned exactly.
Our next trial will involve a ferno pad, attached to the backboard, and velco straps to secure the noodldes. This method should work, but requires more equipment.
